My journey as a medical herbalist and nutritional therapist began with my personal health challenges. At 17, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease. This diagnosis sparked my interest in food science and how diet and lifestyle choices impact chronic illnesses. My commitment to understanding health deepened when, at 40, I underwent surgery that induced early menopause, leading to numerous debilitating symptoms.
Seeking to regain control of my health, I delved into the reasons behind my condition. Up to this point, I had enjoyed a successful career as a makeup artist and hairstylist, working internationally with celebrities on fashion, TV, and magazine shoots. Despite my passion for the job, it came with significant stress. Constant travel, long hours, and high-pressure environments took a toll on my well-being, contributing to hormonal imbalances and exacerbating my health issues.
This realization marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my life. Traditional medications prescribed by my doctor for menopausal symptoms provided only temporary relief. On a trusted recommendation, I sought out a medical herbalist with a background in nutrition. The benefits I experienced were profound, inspiring me to pursue this field professionally.
I enrolled in a 3-year course in Naturopathic Nutrition at The College of Naturopathic Medicine. This was followed by an additional four years at the University of Westminster, where I earned a first-class Honours degree in Western Herbal Medicine. This educational journey equipped me with the knowledge and skills to help others navigate their health challenges, just as I had learned to manage my own.
